Inaugurated on June 3, 2023, on the Day of National Cohesion, this monumental wooden structure was made possible through a wide-reaching joint effort. Its creation was supported by private individuals, public figures, local municipalities, and businesses, all coming together to bring this unique architectural landmark to life.

The gate is the visionary work of Sándor Pethő, an award-winning master woodcarver. Born in Transylvania and having learned the craft in his grandfather’s workshop, Pethő has dedicated his life to traditional carpentry, building over 220 gates throughout his career. What truly sets his work apart is his signature deep-carving technique, which makes the intricate, traditional motifs stand out beautifully from the wood – a skill that earned him the prestigious “Hungarian Masterpiece of Handicraft” award in 2015.
