Imperial-Old Mosque

Mosque in Plav preserves Ottoman heritage, rare wooden details, and views toward Plav Lake and Prokletije peaks

Carska džamija in Plav, known as the Old Mosque, was built in 1471 and reflects the Ottoman heritage of the region. Its present appearance dates from the 18th century, while the last restoration was carried out in 1986.

The mosque is known for its wooden roof structure, 10-meter wooden minaret, carved entrance doors, and a rare wooden tarih inscription above the entrance.

Only a few minutes away is Plav Lake, Montenegro’s largest glacial lake, while nearby trails lead into Prokletije National Park.
