Petnjicka Dzamija (Petnjicka Mosque), located in the forested Bihor region of north-eastern Montenegro, is both a place of worship and a testament to traditional woodcraft. Believed to date back to the late 16th century, the mosque was carefully reconstructed in 2005, preserving its stone base, timber upper floor and distinctive wooden shingle-covered minaret. Inside, carved wooden pillars support a spacious prayer hall, while more than five hundred unique carpets—recognized as an intangible cultural asset of Montenegro—decorate the interior. The mosque remains an active spiritual and cultural center under the care of the Islamic Community of Montenegro.
Surrounded by beech and fir forests, the area offers walking paths leading to viewpoints, village neighborhoods and nearby natural sites such as Bratimin Vir spring and the Koracki krs rock formation, where nature, folklore and traditional wooden architecture meet.
