Village Japan is one of the most intriguing villages in the Andrijevica region, known for its peaceful mountain landscape and unusual name. Visitors are often surprised to see “Japan” on a road sign deep in the Montenegrin highlands. Some say the name was given jokingly because the settlement felt very remote, while others link it to a traveller from the village. Whatever the origin, the name has become part of its local charm.

Selo Japan reflects traditional mountain architecture, with wooden barns and houses built from local spruce, fir and beech. Meadows and gardens open into mixed woodland, creating the typical atmosphere of the highlands.

Footpaths lead through beech and conifer forests toward ridges above the Lim Valley and connect the village with nearby katuns, offering easy walking and views toward Trešnjevik and Komovi.
